Reduced pressure zone (RPZ) backflow assemblies are extremely important. They're used to keep contaminated water out of the public supply and provide the highest level of protection.

An RPZ valve is a unique type of valve that offers backflow protection for substances that pose significant risk of harm to health, and they require a yearly test to prove it is functioning correctly.

The reduced pressure principle back-flow prevention device (RP) uses check valves to prevent water from flowing backwards through the pipes. A check valve is a disc or flap that can be pushed open when water flows in the normal direction, allowing water to flow through the pipe.

Water Backflow Prevention Devices Another common type of backflow preventer is the pressure vacuum breaker (PVB).

There are two types of backflow: back-pressure and back-siphonage.

Both backflow assemblies are designed to perform the same function, but the RPZ is also designed to protect the public water supply by disposing of any backwards-flowing water if either the check valves or the relief valve fails.

Reduced pressure zone (RPZ) assemblies are extremely important. They're used to keep contamination or pollution out of your water. Specifically, an RPZ is installed onto your plumbing system to protect both your drinking water as well as the municipality's water supply.

An RPBA is a mechanical backflow preventer that consists of two independently acting, spring-loaded check valves with a hydraulically operating, mechanically independent, spring-loaded pressure differential relief valve between the check valves and below the first check valve.
