Also known as FnF Settlement, Full and Final Settlement in payroll happens when an employee resigns from an organisation or is terminated by the employer. In this case, the employee has to be paid for the last working month and any additional earnings, including bonuses or incentives.

The full and final settlement process involves calculating and paying the employee's last month's salary, tax deductions, bonus earnings, unused leaves, and any other outstanding dues such as reimbursements, gratuity, and provident fund.

Previously, the settlement of salary and dues was completed 45 to 60 days after an employee's last working day, and in some cases, it extended up to 90 days. However, the new wage code mandates that companies must complete the full and final settlement within two days of an employee's last working day.

Full and final settlement is the process of calculating all the dues payable to an employee who resigns, retires, or is removed by the management. The settlement process is not just limited to the salary drawn by the employee but also deductions.

Calculation of amounts payable:- Example: If an employee's Basic salary is Rs. 10,000 and has a balance of 20 unutilized earned leaves, then earned leaves amount payable will be calculated as (20 x 10,000)/26 = Rs. 7,692, considering there are 26 working days in a month, excluding the holidays.

Calculated as the number of days of compensation multiplied by the gross salary divided by 26 (Avg. number of working days per month). Non-availed leaves & bonuses: Non-availed leaves and any bonus or credits, which as per the Company policy, can be encashed by the employee during the settlement.
