With a GPA of 3.88, Bates College requires you to be near the top of your class, and well above average. You'll need mostly A's, ideally with several AP or IB classes to help show your preparation at a college level. If you're a junior or senior, your GPA is hard to change from this point on.

With a GPA of 3.93, Bowdoin requires you to be at the top of your class. You'll need nearly straight A's in all your classes to compete with other applicants.

To have the best shot of getting in, you should aim for the 75th percentile, with a 1460 SAT or a 32 ACT. You should also have a 3.88 GPA or higher. If your GPA is lower than this, you need to compensate with a higher SAT/ACT score.

Record in Secondary School. Individual cases may vary, but it is recommended that students have taken four years of English and at least three years of each of the following: a foreign language, laboratory science, mathematics, and social science.

Bates College is very selective with an acceptance rate of 14%. Students that get into Bates College have an SAT score between 1340–1500 or an ACT score of 31–33. Regular applications are due January 10.

Music, theater, art, dance, film, and creative writing supplements may be included in your application portfolio. Supplementary materials can be uploaded after submitting your application to Bates and receiving a PIN for online access to your application status portal.

Bates College admissions is most selective with an acceptance rate of 17%. Half the applicants admitted to Bates College have an SAT score between 1260 and 1470 or an ACT score of 30 and 34. However, one quarter of admitted applicants achieved scores above these ranges and one quarter scored below these ranges.
