An initial compensable disability rating for eosinophilic esophagitis with stricture, dysmotility, and esophageal ring of 30 percent, but no higher, for the entire initial rating period is granted.

In some cases, when food becomes stuck, it causes vomiting. Rarely, severe vomiting that happens as a result of EoE can tear the esophagus and lead to serious medical complications. If left untreated, EoE can eventually result in scarring and narrowing of the esophagus, which makes symptoms worse over time.

The veteran is currently assigned a 10 percent disability evaluation for hiatal hernia with GERD pursuant to 38 C.F.R. § 4.114, Diagnostic Code 7346 (2006). Under that diagnostic code, a 10 percent rating is warranted when there are two or more of the symptoms for the 30 percent evaluation of less severity.

In the rating decision on appeal, the Veteran's 30 percent rating for GERD with IBS, hiatal hernia, H-pylori and diverticulitis was confirmed and continued, effective March 1, 1999. The Veteran's disability is currently rated under 38 C.F.R. § 4.114, DC 7346, for hiatal hernia.

VA disability ratings range from 10 percent to 100 percent. If your allergic rhinitis is constant and is severe to the point that you have abnormal growths forming in your tissues, you will get a disability rating of 30 percent.

The Veteran's service-connected hemorrhoids are currently rated as 10 percent disabling. A higher rating of 20 percent is warranted for hemorrhoids, external or internal, with persistent bleeding and with secondary anemia, or with fissures. 38 C.F.R. § 4.114, Diagnostic Code 7336.

Eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders are considered a disability according to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 under the following guidelines: The Section 504 regulatory provision at 34 C.F.R.

Typically, GERD is rated analogous to a hiatal hernia under 38 C.F.R. 4.114 diagnostic code 7346. Ratings under diagnostic code 7346 range from 10 to 60% disabling, and depend on the presence and severity of a variety of symptoms.

The Veteran's IBS is currently rated as 30 percent disabling, that is the highest schedular rating available for IBS under DC 7319. The criteria provide for the 30 rating when there are severe symptoms of diarrhea, or alternating diarrhea and constipation, with more or less constant abdominal distress.
