Get Id1 Form

To get an ID1 form, you need to download the form from the gov.uk website. You need to fill in section A. Then, you need to make an appointment at an HM Land Registry office, or with a solicitor, notary, licenced conveyancer, barrister or chartered legal executive. The Land Registry ID1 Form is used by the Land Registry to satisfy itself of the identity of any party to a conveyancing related transaction or transfer of equity (whether for money or not) or change of registration or charge etc.

Private individuals must complete form ID1, corporate bodies must complete form ID2. Where a party to a transaction comprises more than one person, each one must complete a separate ID form and produce evidence of their identity.

An ID1 form is the document used by solicitors and government bodies like the Land Registry, to prove the identity of individuals. It is most often used during property transactions to protect against identity fraud.

How Long Is An ID1/ID2 Form Valid? It is important to note that a signed ID1 or ID2 form only lasts for 3 months, so it is best practice to hold off completing an ID1 or ID2 form until the latter stages of the property transaction, ideally just before the exchange of contracts.

When certifying your identification, a passport sized photograph taken within the last three months will need to be signed by either a solicitor, Chartered Legal Executive, or Land Registry.

The form must be signed by a conveyancer (there are a number of varying qualifications to check), Chartered Legal Executive or by an HM Land Registry officer.
