Statewide Zoning Regulations in Connecticut permit no more than six adult (6 months or more old) dogs in a single residence. The owner needs to obtain a license for each dog that they own. If you want to house more than six dogs, you'll need to apply and be approved for a commercial kennel license.

Connecticut state law requires all pet owners to license their dogs. All dogs over six months must be licensed. Licensing provides vaccination and sterilization benefits for pets. All dogs must be licensed by June 30th of each year.

Yearly dog licenses are available from the Treasurer's Office or at the following Centre County locations. Lifetime licenses are also available at the Treasurer's Office. A Permanent Identification Verification Form (provided by your veterinarian) is required for dogs that are microchipped.
