The 1830 population census was the Fifth Decennial Census of the United States. Taken every 10 years since 1790, census records provide a snapshot of the nation's population.

June 1, 1830 The center of population was about 170 miles (274 km) west of Washington, D.C. in present-day Grant County, West Virginia. This was the first census in which a city—New York—recorded a population of over 200,000.

The first Federal Population Census was taken in 1790, and has been taken every ten years since. Because of a 72-year restriction on access to the Census, the most recent year available is 1950. The 1950 Census was released on April 1, 2022.
