To clear your UPEs, you must complete and lodge an Unaccompanied Personal Effects Statement (B534 Form) (290KB PDF). This statement is a legal declaration to both the Department of Home Affairs and Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (Agriculture).

There are a number of items that you must declare upon your arrival in Australia including: All food, plant material and animal items. Firearms, weapons and ammunition. Currency amounts of A$10,000 (or foreign equivalent).

Most personal items such as new clothing, footwear, and articles for personal hygiene and grooming (excluding fur and perfume concentrates) may be brought into Australia in your accompanied baggage, free from duty and tax.
