The Working Holiday Visa (Subclass 417 or 462) in Australia exists since 1975. It is a temporary visa allowing young people aged 18 to 30 (to 35 for some nationalities) to travel and work in Australia for up to one year.

To be eligible to apply for a second or third Work and Holiday (subclass 462) visa, you must have already completed a prescribed minimum period of 'specified subclass 462 work' in certain circumstances. Specified work is work that is undertaken in a 'specified' industry and in a specified area of Australia.

462 visas have education requirements, while 417 visas do not. 462 visas require a letter of support from your government of origin (unless you're from the U.S.), while 417 visas do not. 462 visas also require evidence of functional English, while 417 visas do not.

To be valid, any employment verification letter must be signed by the employer, providing their full name and official title. In most cases, it should also be written no more than 3 months prior to the date of the immigration application which it is intended to support.

The Work and Holiday (subclass 462) visa has certain educational requirements, while the Working Holiday (subclass 417) visa does not have education requirements. The minimum education required depends on the country of passport.

This visa lets people 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) who currently hold, or who have held, a Work and Holiday visa, have a second working holiday in Australia.
