To enable the preference, go to Acrobat preferences, and click Documents in the left pane. Under Open Settings, select Always Use Filename As Document Title. Please update your Acrobat/Reader (It should Auto update or you should do Help → Check for updates) and let us know your Feedback.

Select the files you want to merge using the Acrobat PDF combiner tool. Reorder the files if needed. Click Merge files. Download the merged PDF.

Click on the "Add Watermark" button located on the top toolbar. Select the "Add Title" option from the drop-down menu. Click "Save" to apply the title to your document. The title will now be visible on the top of each page of your PDF.

Open the PDF document in Adobe Acrobat Pro: Select File > Properties. Select the Description tab to view the metadata in the document, including the document information dictionary. Modify the Title field to add or change the document's Title entry.

Reason: The browser is simply reading the metadata that is saved in the actual PDF file as the document title, which may be different from the document file name. You may confirm this by opening the PDF file in Adobe Acrobat Reader > navigate to File > Properties.

The title is a name that you can change whenever required. The file name is a unique identifier that remains unchanged.
