How often must controlled substances be physically inventoried? Federal Law requires controlled substances to be physically inventoried once every two years (biennial inventory).

An inventory reconciliation report of all Schedule II drugs shall be compiled at least every three months and, in order to complete the report, the inventory must be compared with a review of drugs that entered and left the pharmacy since the previous inventory reconciliation.

How often must controlled substances be inventoried? The Controlled Substances Act requires that a pharmacy complete a biennial inventory of controlled substances every 2 years.

After the initial inventory is taken, the registrant shall take a new inventory of all stocks of controlled substances on hand at least every two years. The biennial inventory may be taken on any date which is within two years of the previous biennial inventory date.

Federal law requires pharmacies to complete a controlled substance inventory biennially, or every 2 years, from the date of the first inventory.

Inventory records of controlled substances shall include the name of the substance, the strength and dosage form of the substance (e.g. 10 mg. tablet), and the quantity of the substance.

A level of controlled substance (C-V through C-I) that cannot be prescribed by a vet because it contains substances of high abuse with no approved medical purpose. C-I. C-I is the highest level of potential abuse, and C-V is the group with the least amount of abuse potential.
