The New Mexico Opportunity Scholarship will cover up to 100% of tuition and required fees and up to $50 per credit hour for course-specific fees. There is no application required for the Opportunity Scholarship. If you meet the eligibility criteria, our scholarship team will work with you to award the scholarship.

The scholarship pays up to $3,444.06 of tuition per semester for the 2021/2022 academic year – it does NOT cover mandatory student fees or course fees.

Student must maintain a 2.5 or greater cumulative grade point average (GPA) each semester of enrollment. Students with disabilities may qualify for reduced credit hour requirements and additional semesters of the scholarship.

The Bridge to Success Scholarship is offered in fall and covers actual tuition charges and registration fee for the Lottery Qualifying Term. The Qualifying Term is the first term of attendance after earning a New Mexico diploma, New Mexico GED or state approved credential.

Do I qualify for the Opportunity Scholarship? If you are an established New Mexico resident and plan to enroll in at least six credit hours at a public college or university in New Mexico toward a training certificate, associate degree, or bachelor's degree, you may qualify.

New Mexico Scholars Student must be a resident of New Mexico. Must have graduated from a New Mexico high school in top 5% of class or obtain a score of 25 on the ACT or 1140 on the SAT. Student must attend an eligible public or private not for profit post-secondary institution. Undergraduate. Enrolled full time.

How do I apply for the Opportunity Scholarship? There is no application for the scholarship. If you are an eligible student enrolled in a New Mexico public college or university, the financial aid office at your school will work with you to award the scholarship.

You are eligible to receive the Lottery Scholarship if: You enroll full time at a New Mexico public or Tribal college or university within 16 months of graduating from high school. If you enlisted in the military following high school, you are also eligible.
