Contact support

To obtain further information or to find the most recent version of a PIR filed with the Comptroller of Public Accounts, please contact the Open Records Division by email or by calling (800) 531-5441, ext. 6-6057 or (512) 936-6057.

What is a Rendition? Section 22 of the Tax Code requires every owner of business personal property used or located in Texas to report that property annually. The report is called a rendition. The rendition must be filed with the chief appraiser of the appraisal district in which the property is located.

Contact the Comptroller's office by completing the online help form or calling 800-252-1381.

Section 22.01 - Rendition Generally (a) Except as provided by Chapter 24, a person shall render for taxation all tangible personal property used for the production of income that the person owns or that the person manages and controls as a fiduciary on January 1.

Texas has no state property tax. The state does not set tax rates, collect taxes or settle disputes between you and your local governments.

A rendition is a report that lists all the taxable property you owned or controlled on Jan. 1 of this year. Property includes inventory and equipment used by a business. Owners do not have to render exempt property, such as church property or an agriculture producer's equipment used for farming.

Write a brief description of the business and the square feet occupied. Fill in the business start date, sales tax permit number, and check any boxes that apply. If sold, please fill in the New Owners name. If moved, please fill in the new location address.

Texas voters adopted the state's current 10% appraisal cap in 1997 — intended to protect homeowners in hot housing markets against shocking rises in their property tax bill.
