GA Workers' Compensation Max Comp Rate Changes Effective July 1, 2022. Georgia House Bill 1409 will become effective on July 1, 2022 and will implement the following changes to the Georgia Workers' Compensation Act: The maximum TTD and PPD rates will increase to $725.00 per week.

Workers' compensation benefits often pay two-thirds of your weekly salary, up to $525 per week. If you make a variable amount of money per week, your compensation will be based upon an average of past weekly amounts.

Your weekly benefits will be two-thirds of your regular wages. You will get the checks for the number of weeks the law dictates. For example, you can receive weekly benefits for 225 weeks for the loss of or loss of the use of an arm. The loss of vision in one eye qualifies for 150 weeks of benefits.

What Is the Georgia Workers' Compensation Waiting Period? Georgia has a seven day waiting period. This means that you will not receive benefits during the first week you miss work. You are entitled to weekly income benefits and the check should be mailed to you within 21 days after the first day you missed work.

The impairment rating payout entails two-thirds of a worker's weekly salary. Employees are entitled to receive up to $675 each week for up to 400 weeks. The length of time benefits are paid depends on when an employee reaches MMI. Those who don't fully recover are then eligible for permanent disability payments.

Workers Compensation cases can sometimes settle shortly after an injury (within a few weeks or a couple of months), or they can take years. The average workers' compensation case will take about 16 months to be resolved. A resolution may result in a settlement agreement or a hearing with a judge.

The average settlement for a Georgia workers' compensation claim depends on certain factors. You are entitled to benefits through workers' compensation without pursuing a settlement. That being said, some employees are better off seeking more from the insurance company to account for their future needs.

If the insurance company has already paid for a workers compensation surgery, then the cost of the surgery itself will not be factored into a settlement. The reason why is that cost has already been paid by the insurance company. So, it is not a future cost for them – it is a past cost.
