A service option which provides Enhanced 9-1-1 features for telephone stations behind private switches.

Automatic Location Identification (“ALI”) means a feature that provides the caller's telephone number, address and the names of the Emergency Response agencies that are responsible for that address.

E911 stands for Enhanced 911, and it's the part of the 911 system that automatically ties a location to the call—whether it's a specific address or coordinates. If we had to explain enhanced 911 (E911) in five words or less, we'd tell you that it's location services for 911 calls.

ALI stands for automatic location identification. This database is queried by the PSAP at the time of a 911 call to obtain the caller's location. For example, if a caller dials 911, then the ALI Database will be able to provide first responders with a location instantly in order to cut down on response time.

ALI database It is generally maintained by the Incumbent Local Exchange Carrier (ILEC) under contract by the PSAP. Each ILEC has their own standards for the formatting of the database.

The automatic display at the PSAP of the caller's telephone number, the address/location of the telephone and supplementary emergency services information of the location from which a call originates.
