The regular number of hours worked by a full-time, non-exempt employee is 40 hours in a workweek. Working additional hours beyond your regular number of hours per day or in a week is subject to overtime. Your pay schedule is biweekly per the Payroll Calendar below.

Definitions. Students can attend UC San Diego at less than full-time status. Undergraduates are considered part-time if they enroll in 10 or fewer units per quarter or fewer than 8 units during Summer Session. Graduate students are considered half-time if they enroll in 6 or fewer units per quarter.

Choosing Classes Being enrolled in 12 units is considered full-time. You must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 units to be a full-time student. Most classes at UC San Diego (UCSD) are 4.0 quarter units. You must complete at least 36 units in each academic year to comply with the minimum progress regulation.

Minimum Number of Units Required for Graduation A bachelor of arts/bachelor of science degree requires a minimum of 180 units; at least sixty units must be upper division.

Complete 60 semester (90 quarter) UC transferable units • Complete the UC-transferable college courses below with a C grade or better in each course. Each course must be 3 UC transferable semester (4-5 quarter) units.

Maximum Unit Limitation An undergraduate student may register for no more than 200 course units. An exception is permitted for candidates for BS degrees in engineering, for whom the limits are 240 units in Revelle and Roosevelt Colleges and 230 units in all other colleges.
