GSP or Generalized System of Preference refers to the preferential tariff system designed by UNCTAD for reducing tariffs for least developed nations. GSTP or Global System of Trade Preferences refers to the framework under UNCTAD for increasing trade among the developing countries.

The Global System of Trade Preferences among Developing Countries (GSTP) establishes tariff concessions to promote trade among African, Asian and Latin American countries.

GSP and GSTP Under GSP, the concessions are given by a developed country to a developing country whereas under GSTP, the concessions are given by one developing country to another developing country. Preferential measures should be given to clearly recognised least developed countries.

The Global System of Trade Preferences among Developing Countries (G.S.T.P) is a preferential trade agreement, currently encompassing 42 members (“participants”), signed on 13 April 1988 with the aim of increasing trade between developing countries.
