To remove a lock from a database: In System View, click the Database Properties icon. In Enterprise View, expand the Oracle Hyperion Planning application type and the application that contains the database for which you want to remove a lock. Right-click the database, and then select Remove Lock(s).

Specify the schema containing the table or view. If you omit schema , then Oracle Database assumes the table or view is in your own schema. Specify the name of the table or view to be locked. If you specify view , then Oracle Database locks the base tables of the view.

Answer: The only way to release a lock on an Oracle table is to kill the session that is holding the lock, or wait for the transaction to complete. See my related notes on finding Oracle locked_objects and killing_Oracle sessions.

You can find out where the SQL lock was created and by whom so that you can end the process and remove the SQL lock. Click "Start," then "SQL Server." Click "SQL Server Management Studio." Type "sp_who 'active'" into the command line, and press "Enter." This identifies active users and the location of the lock.

Table locks set within a transaction are released automatically when the transaction completes. If you are using an ANSI-compliant database, do not issue an UNLOCK TABLE statement.

You can restrict the access to records of the tables in MYSQL by locking them. These locks are used to other sessions from modifying the tables in the current session. MySQL sessions can acquire or release locks on the table only for itself.

Open SQL Server Management Studio and connect to the database. Execute the sp_who2 system stored procedure to see the active processes in the database. You can filter the results by specifying the name of the locked table in the BlkBy column, which will show you the process that is blocking other processes.

The session that holds the lock can read and write the table. Only the session that holds the lock can access the table. No other session can access it until the lock is released. Lock requests for the table by other sessions block while the WRITE lock is held.
