To unlock a table you need to commit or rollback in order to protect the integrity of the data. Else, to disable a lock for a table you can try out this below: SQL> alter table employees disable table lock. The only way to "unlock" any kind of lock in Oracle is to perform a COMMIT or ROLLBACK.

Go to the "Review" tab of the ribbon. Click the "Restrict Editing" button in the "Protect" group. The "Restrict Formatting and Editing" task pane will open. Click the "Stop Protection" button at the bottom of the task pane.

Table-level locking systems always lock entire tables. Row-level locking systems can lock entire tables if the WHERE clause of a statement cannot use an index. For example, UPDATES that cannot use an index lock the entire table.

A session releases all the tables locks with it at once. You can implicitly release the table locks. If the connection to the server terminates explicitly or implicitly all the locks will be released. You can release the locks of a table explicitly using the UNLOCK TABLES statement.

In Oracle, once a lock has been issued, only one of the following can be used to release the lock: Ask the HOLDER to commit or rollback. Kill the session which holds the lock. ALTER SESSION KILL SESSION sid, serial#. Kill the Unix shadow process, which is not recommended.

You can lock a table if you own the table or if you have the Select privilege on the table, either from a direct grant to your user ID or from a grant to PUBLIC. You can only unlock a table that you locked. You cannot unlock a table that another process locked. Only one lock can apply to a table at a time.

Table locks set within a transaction are released automatically when the transaction completes. If you are using an ANSI-compliant database, do not issue an UNLOCK TABLE statement.
