On Monday, Alberta's UCP government announced exams would be worth 20 per cent for the 2022-23 school year, returning to 30 per cent in the 2023-24 school year.

Weighting. As a temporary measure for the 2022-23 school year, diploma exams will be weighted at 20% of a student's final mark.

Diploma exam results are only available online via myPass, Alberta Education's secure self-service website for high school students. Students who have not signed up for myPass when their diploma exam results are released will automatically be mailed a letter with instructions on how they can obtain access to myPass.

Diploma exam weighting will be return to being weighted at 30 per cent for the 2023-2024 school year. The 2020-2021 school year diploma exams were optional due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2021-2022 school year diploma exams were weighted at 10 per cent.

The weighting of diploma exams will return to 30% effective September 1, 2023. Students who wrote a diploma exam or completed a diploma exam course in 2022-23 may still be eligible for the 20% weighting that applied last year.

To attain an Alberta High School Diploma, a student must earn a minimum of 100 credits by completing: 15 credits English (must complete 30-1 or 30-2) 15 credits Social Studies (must complete 30-1 or 30-2) 10 credits Mathematics (must complete 20 level) 10 credits Science (must complete 20 level)

Diploma exams written by Alberta students this school year will only count for 20 per cent of their final marks. The exams used to be worth half of students' end mark, but the Alberta government reduced the weight of diplomas from 50 per cent to 30 per cent in 2015.

Final exam mark is worth 30%. Every course in an Ontario secondary school has a final evaluation worth 30%. These final evaluations are organised by the individual departments within a school, and thus they are not standardized across the province.

Normally, final exams are worth 20% of your final grade. If you are in high school, the first quarter and second quarter grades are worth 40% each. To determine your final grade for a course, take your first quarter grade and multiple it by .40.
