Trace Header Attestation For Free

There are three SHAKEN attestation levels, A, B, and C A-Attestation (Full attestation) indicates that the telecom carrier that originated the call knows the customer that initiated the call and the customer is authorized to use the Caller ID that the call is being originated from.

The origid , standardized as part of STIR / SHAKEN, represents the originating point of a call in each network and opens up the possibility of streamlining the traceback process. The third is potentially to provide some form of display to the end user that the caller ID has been verified.

The SIP Identity header is base64 URL decoded and the details are compared to the SIP INVITE message. The public key of the certificate is used to verify the SIP Identity header signature. The certificate chain of trust is verified.

STIR/SHAKEN digitally validates the handoff of phone calls passing through the complex web of networks, allowing the phone company of the consumer receiving the call to verify that a call is in fact from the number displayed on Caller ID.

"Gateway Attestation", "C", indicates the call can only be verified as coming from a known gateway, for instance, a connection to another service provider.

Full Attestation (A) - The identity of the caller is known, and they have the right to use the Caller ID for this call. Partial Attestation (B) - The originator knows the identity of the caller, but cannot confirm their right to use the Caller ID.

OriginationID header represents STIR/SHAKEN origid value. This data allows to trace calls on the network and find CDRs on all transit systems.
