?Conventional? spaghetti tags are a piece of tough plastic that you attach to the fish. They have an ID code on them which you register online after you release the fish. Once someone else catches it, they report the tag and you find out where your fish ended up.

There are a variety of ways to study the number of sharks in an area and understand their movement patterns. Three of the main options are external tagging, acoustic tracking and satellite tracking.

Satellite tracking tags are attached to the shark's dorsal fin while the shark is cradled beside the vessel whereas pop-off tags can be darted into a shark as it swims past the vessel without the need to catch it.

The most common solution for tagging small fish is to place the VIE tags into the fish's body. One of the best tag injection sites in small fish is parallel to the base of the dorsal fin. Another excellent location is just behind the head, on the dorsal side.
