Any person or business who sells goods or services in Ontario is required to file a vendor permit with the Ministry of Finance. This includes online sellers, retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers, contractors, and professional service providers.

Certain province's valid certificates are recognized by the BC government if you are working as a server or a bartender at an event with a Special Event Permit. If you are a Special Event Permit holder or working as a manager for an event with over 500 attendees, you will still need to obtain Serving It Right.

Can you sell online without a business license? No you may not sell, either online or offline, in Canada without a business license from the province where the business is located. If you sell goods or services for financial gain, you need a business license. Most businesses must renew their license every year.

The Province The Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch (LCRB) issues licences in BC for making and selling liquor and supervises the service of liquor in licensed establishments. The branch alone is responsible for deciding if you will receive a licence.

If you operate your business as a sole proprietor using your own name as the business name, registration is not generally necessary provided you erect a sign in full public view giving your full name.

If you are hosting an event where liquor will be sold at a location that is not licensed OR where liquor will be served or sold in a public space, you will need a licence. Events held at private residences or licensed establishments do not require Special Event Permits.

A permit from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario is required any time alcohol is offered for sale or served anywhere other than in a licensed establishment (such as a bar or restaurant) or a private place (such as a private office or home).
