Use a Certificate of Mailing. Certificate of Mailing service provides a postmarked mailing receipt as evidence that your item was mailed. This is all you need to do: Complete PS Form 3817 at the time of mailing.

USPS Marketing Mail consists of mailable matter that is neither mailed or required to be mailed as First-Class Mail nor entered as Periodicals (unless permitted or required by standard) and that weighs less than 16 ounces.

Postmarks are imprints on letters, flats, and parcels that show the name of the USPS office that accepted the mail, along with the state, the zip code, and the date of mailing. The postmark is put on your envelope either by machine or by hand with cancellation bars to indicate that the postage cannot be reused.

To use permit imprint, you set up a postage account (called an "advance deposit account") at the Post Office or Business Mail Entry Unit where you'll be depositing your mail. When you bring your mailing to the Post Office the total postage is deducted from your account.

Permit Imprints are a way to pay for business (also known as discount or bulk) postage. It is one of three business mail payment options, the other two being meters and precanceled stamps. Permit imprints are the only postage option that can ONLY be used for business mailing.

Marketing mail is the new name for standard mail. Any mail that is not personal or confidential, such as advertisements, flyers, newsletters, merchandise or small parcels, are typically sent as marketing mail.

Standard Mail (aka USPS Marketing Mail): It is processed by the USPS on a lower priority basis than First-Class. There is NO GUARANTEED delivery time. Local mail is typically delivered in about 1 to 14 business days, and national mail is typically delivered in the period somewhere between seven days and three weeks.

To qualify for USPS Marketing Mail®, mailers must have a Business Mail Permit and meet certain requirements, such as a minimum weight of one ounce, a maximum weight of 16 ounces and a minimum quantity of 200 pieces or 50 pounds of mail.

If a mailpiece is dropped off at a 24-hour postal location before the last pickup time listed at that location, it would be postmarked with the date it was dropped off. Similarly, if a mailpiece is deposited in a Collection Box receptacle before the last pickup time, it will be collected and postmarked that same day.
