ELECT stands for Early Learning for Every Child Today.

In January 2007, the government published Early Learning for Every Child Today: A Framework for Ontario Early Childhood Settings. This document was developed by the Best Start Expert Panel on Early Learning to help to improve quality and consistency in early childhood settings across Ontario.

ELECT helps clarify these developmental markers for each age group and shows the approximate skills they should be learning at each age group. The domains are Social, Emotional, Communication, language, and literacy, Cognitive, and Physical.

How Does Learning Happen? is organized around four foundational conditions that are important for children to grow and flourish: Belonging, Well-Being, Engagement, and Expression.
