The difference between Save and Save As is that Save allows you to update a previously saved file with new content, whereas Save As allows you to save a new file or an existing file to a new location with the same or different name.

If you make changes to a file that has already been saved, then SAVE and SAVE AS do different things. SAVE will save the updates you have made to the same file name. SAVE AS let's you save a second copy of the file, so you'll then have two files ? the original file (old) and the latest file (new).

If the document is saved locally, you can use Save As to save a copy of an existing document with a new name, format, or location. However, for documents that are saved to OneDrive or another cloud service, you may need to use Save a Copy instead, depending on your version of Word.

"Save As" lets the user make a copy of the file in a different folder or make a copy with a different name.
