Amendment: If a contract mistake is identified, the parties may amend the agreement to fix the problem. This may include negotiating and revising the contract's provisions to match the parties' original purpose.

This is called a post-signature amendment and requires a written agreement between the two parties. In order to alter the original agreement, you will have to sign a new contract that defines the necessary changes. This second contract remains valid for as much time as the initial document.

For major modifications to a contract, first negotiate those changes with the other parties, then ask the person who originally drafted the document to print a modified version of the contract. All parties should review the reprinted document to ensure that the correct changes were made, then sign the newest version.

Such modifications can be made either in writing or verbally, and can be done prior to all of the involved parties signing the contract, or even after.
