Visit ftc.gov/calls to learn to block calls on your cell phone and home phone. The FTC continues to go after the companies and scammers behind these calls, so please report unwanted calls at donotcall.gov. If you've lost money to a scam call, tell us at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.

You May Have Picked Up an Unwanted Call Scammers also target you because you picked up their call once. They take it as an invitation and try to call you repeatedly as you look like a good target. They might also try to call you from different numbers to increase their chances of engaging you.

Avoid unwanted calls on iPhone Tap Favorites, Recents, or Voicemail. Tap. next to the number or contact you want to block, scroll down, then tap Block this Caller. Tap Contacts, tap the contact you want to block, scroll down, then tap Block this Caller.

How to block spam calls on Android. If you have an Android phone with Google dialer, then open the app > click on the three dots in the top right corner > settings > caller ID and spam > and enable filter spam calls, which will automatically block suspected calls on your Android smartphone.

How to avoid unwanted calls. Register your phone numbers with the National DNCL or call 1-866-580-DNCL (3625).

Report Phone Scams If you've lost money to a phone scam or have information about the company or scammer who called you, report it at ReportFraud.ftc.gov. If you didn't lose money and just want to report a call, you can use our streamlined reporting form at DoNotCall.gov.

Start using call-blocking tools Phone app call blockers: Many phone apps, such as Hiya and Truecaller, allow you to block specific numbers or types of calls. These apps often have a database of known spam numbers, which can help you identify and block unwanted calls.
