CMS uses superscripts at the end of sentences and footnotes at the bottom of pages, not in-text parentheticals. Example: 1. Author Last Name, First Name, ?Article Title,? Publishing Magazine, Month and Year of Publication, page range.

Footnote or Endnote (N): Firstname Lastname, ?Title of Web Page,? Name of Website, Publishing Organization, publication or revision date if available, access date if no other date is available, URL.

Footnotes (sometimes just called 'notes') are what they sound like?a note (or a reference to a source of information) which appears at the foot (bottom) of a page. In a footnote referencing system, you indicate a reference by: Putting a small number above the line of type directly following the source material.

Footnotes are listed at the bottom of the page on which a citation is made. A numeral is placed in the text to indicate the cited work and again at the bottom of the page in front of the footnote. A footnote lists the author, title and details of publication, in that order.

The footnote contains the number of the citation followed by a period and then the citation itself. The citation always includes the author's name and the title of the text, and it always ends with a period. Full notes also include all the relevant publication information in parentheses (which varies by source type).

Each first footnote or endnote entry must include the author's name, the title, the source or publisher, and the date of publication. Entries from a book or periodical must include page numbers. (Omit portions of this information only if it is not available.) You may use ibid.
