Deeds can be viewed for free online through mdlandrec.net. You must create an account with the Maryland State Archives to view deeds on mdlandrec.net. Many courthouses also have computer terminals you can use to search or review deeds.

You may research this information at: Office of the Recorder of Deeds or Real Property Tax Database Search. The cost to purchase a copy is $2.25 per page plus ($2.25) per document for certification of a copied document. Your copies will be mailed promptly to you.

You can obtain Official Copies of the Title Register, Title Plan and Filed Deeds directly from the Land Registry only by making a postal application using either form OC1 (for the Title Register and/or Title Plan) or form OC2 (for Filed Deeds). You cannot obtain Official Copies directly from the Land Registry online.

Recording the deed: Once all necessary taxes and fees have been paid, take the original deed, a copy of the deed, and the completed and signed Land Instrument Intake Sheet to the Division of Land Records at the Circuit Court. You must pay the recording fee.

Deeds and most other documents kept by the Land Records Department are available through mdlandrec.net. This website is free to use but you must create an account using your name and email address. Search for your deed by first selecting the county where the property is located.

The Recorder's Office is where land records are recorded and made part of the official public record.
