On the Design tab, select Watermark. In the Insert Watermark dialog, select Text and either type your own watermark text or select one, like DRAFT, from the list. Then, customize the watermark by setting the font, layout, size, colors, and orientation. If you don't see the watermark, click View > Print Layout.

You draft a document the same way as you would write the final document, except that (1) you write ?Draft" at the top and (2) you know that this is the start of a process of writing, re-reading, editing, amending, checking, redrafting, that might go through several stages.

In the context of written composition, drafting refers to any process of generating preliminary versions of a written work. Drafting happens at any stage of the writing process as writers generate trial versions of the text they're developing.

Add the pre-defined SAMPLE 2 watermark to the document. 1. Click on the Design tab, in the Page Background group, select Watermark and choose the SAMPLE 2 pre-defined watermark under the Disclaimer section.

Open the document you want to mark as final, click "File" and then select "Info" from the left pane. Click the "Protect Document" button and then choose "Mark as Final" from the menu. Click "OK" when Word warns you that the document will be marked as final and then saved. The Save As window is displayed automatically.

Choose Design > Watermark. In the Insert Watermark box, select Text, and then choose DRAFT.

Text and image both (option c) can be used as watermarks in documents. Transparent logos, text, or images are placed on documents and photographs as watermarks.
