Invoicing under GST is getting deeper and deeper into the Indian business landscape as Government is expanding its scope. Recently CBIC (Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs) Reduced eInvoice Limit to Rs. 5 Crores w.e.f. .

This rule will come into effect from August 1, 2023. The e-invoicing turnover limit has been reduced to Rs 5 crore by the CBIC from Rs 10 crore. At present, all businesses with a turnover of over Rs 10 crore are mandated to generate e-invoices for all B2B transactions.

Invoice Amount means, in relation to an Invoice Item, the amount shown as payable by the Shipper or the Transporter in respect of the Invoice Item in the Invoice.

The GST Council may implement the next phase of e-invoicing for businesses with an annual turnover of more than Rs.5 crore from 1st January 2023. The system may get extended to businesses with a turnover of over Rs.1 crore by the end of the next fiscal year.

Under this, every assesses with a turnover of ?100 crore or more is prohibited from reporting invoices that are more than 7 days old on the date of reporting. An advisory issued by GSTN, the IT backbone of the indirect tax system, says the old invoices can be reported on e-invoice IRP (Invoice Registration Portal).
