Who is eligible for the FIA certification? At least 18 years old. Already holds an International Grade A Competition license. Has a valid driver's license. Pass an FIA theory test that verifies the driver's knowledge of F1 sporting codes and regulations if they're applying for the first time.

Requirements A minimum age of 18 at the start of their first F1 competition. An existing holder of an International Grade A competition licence. A holder of a valid driving licence. Passing of an FIA theory test on knowledge of the F1 sporting codes and regulations when applying for the first time.

Getting one is extremely difficult because you'll need to be at least 18 years old and have accumulated at least 40 Super Licence points (more on that below) in your last 3 years of racing. You'll also have to pass a theory test by the FIA, but that's the easiest part.

Specifically, each driver will pay a base fee ? in euros ? of ?10,400, plus ?2,100 per point scored during the 2022 season, for the chance to race in 2023.

Any driver who wishes to compete in F1 needs to obtain a Super Licence. This is a qualification issued by the sport's governing body, the FIA, based on various factors (more about those in the sections below).
