Interactive Numbers Settlement For Free

Following the basic rules of the game, a settlement is built using 1 Lumber , 1 Brick, 1 Wool, and 1 Grain, and can only be placed on an unoccupied intersection that is at least two intersections away from another settlement, city, or metropolis. This restriction is known as the distance rule.

The most common number that could come out is 7, which there is six ways of rolling (6/1, 5/2, 4/3, 3/4, 2/5, 1/6). This is followed closely by rolling a 6 and an 8 of which there are 5 combinations of each. A 6, for instance, can be rolled 1/5, 2/4, 3/3, 4/2, and 5/1. Rolling a 5 or a 9 can be rolled 4 ways each.

When a player rolls 7, any player with eight or more cards must discard half of their Resource Cards. The discarded cards from all players go into a single pile of cards (similar to free parking in the game Monopoly). Players then roll to win the pile.

This is super clear in the rules. Under Build in the Game Rules section: You cannot build more pieces than what is available in your pool?a maximum of 5 settlements, 4 cities, and 15 roads.

You can build as many items and buy as many cards as you desire?as long as you have enough resources to ?pay? for them and they are still available in the supply. (See Settlements Y, Cities Y, Roads Y, and Development Cards Y.) Each player has a supply of 15 roads, 5 settlements, and 4 cities.

When you roll a 7, all you can do is move the robber and take a card, then your turn ends. This is a ?house rule? I learned years ago, and have subsequently passed on to people I have taught to play Catan. I love this rule, especially towards the end of the game. Rolling a 7 means you can't build, buy or trade.

Take special note of the ?Distance Rule? Y: you may only build a settlement at an intersection if all 3 of the adjacent intersections are vacant (i.e., none are occupied by any settlements or cities?even yours). Each of your settlements must connect to at least 1 of your own roads.
