To earn a high school diploma, you need to earn 30 secondary school credits. English programs are offered in English in English-language schools and French programs are offered in French-language schools. You can also take credit courses at home through the Independent Learning Centre.

As a temporary measure for the 2022-23 school year, diploma exams will be weighted at 20% of a student's final mark.

A degree, diploma or certificate from a Canadian institution is globally recognized as an equivalent to those obtained in the USA or UK.

The GED® test allows people who have not finished secondary school the opportunity to earn an Ontario High School Equivalency Certificate signed by the Minister of Education. The test used in Ontario has been designed especially for use by Canadians and is available in English and French.

The B.C. Certificate of Graduation or "Dogwood Diploma" is awarded to students who successfully complete the provincial graduation requirements. Students require a minimum of 80 credits to graduate. 52 credits are required from the following: Career-Life Education (4 credits), and Career-Life Connections (4 credits)

Get your high school diploma adult high schools and learning centres; community colleges or CEGEPs; your local school board or board of education; online, through distance or correspondence education institutions; and. community service organizations.

School staff will register students enrolled in diploma exams courses for the first time. Students who retake courses will not automatically be registered. These students must register online using myPass. Students must contact a writing centre to request permission to write at that centre before self-registering.
