The Atlanta Falcons continued their free agent spending spree Monday, agreeing to terms with former Cincinnati Bengals safety Jessie Bates III, sources told ESPN.

Chandler Jones, a three-time Pro Bowl defensive end, currently plays for the Las Vegas Raiders. He is in the second year of a three-year contract worth $51 million, with $32 million guaranteed and a $12 million signing bonus. His salary for 2023 is set at $17 million, marking the highest-paying season of his career.

That would have brought the total of guaranteed money the Bengals offered Bates to roughly $17 million. Bates declined the offer and sat out training camp before reporting to the team in the final week of the preseason.
