In the MHRA system, references to sources used in your work are set out in full in notes, either at the bottom of each page (footnotes) or at the end of the piece of work (endnotes).

The name, date and page reference of the work in which information originated should appear first, followed by 'cited' and then the name etc. of the work in which the information was found. Only the work you have read should appear in the reference list at the end of the work.

List the title of the document in italics, followed by a comma. In this case, the title would be Charter of the United Nations. List the date of publication, followed by a comma. In this case, the date of publication is October 24, 1945.
