It is always acceptable to change your major. You don't have to feel stuck with your first choice if your career goals evolve.

While you're on stage, keep the diploma raised up after you've accepted it and shaken hands. Shake your presenter's hand firmly.

Changing a Major If you want to change your major after you've submitted your application, please contact us with your request. If you've already been admitted and you want to change your major or declare, you can: Contact the department whose program you wish to attend.

If you've changed what you want to major in between the time you apply and the time you begin classes, you can often change it at your freshman orientation when you meet with an advisor to create your first semester schedule. They'll often change your major for you without you needing to do any additional work.

Apply for a Change of Major If you are currently enrolled in an FIT degree program and wish to be considered for a different major, email your request to fitadmissions@fitnyc.edu. Include your name, FIT student ID number, new major, and semester for which you wish to be considered.
