Go to Insert > Header or Footer. Choose from a list of standard headers or footers, go to the list of Header or Footer options, and select the header or footer that you want. Or, create your own header or footer by selecting Edit Header or Edit Footer. When you're done, select Close Header and Footer or press Esc.

Remove a Header or Footer Once you've added a header or footer, you can easily remove it if you find that it isn't what you want. Click the Header or Footer button on the Insert tab. Select Remove Header or Remove Footer.

Double-click inside the header or footer area. Select the text you want to change and type your new header or footer in its place. Select Close Header and Footer or double-click anywhere outside of the header or footer area to exit.
