In Tennessee, you must first file a Petition for your name change with the Court. In Tennessee, both circuit and chancery courts have concurrent jurisdiction to change or alter names. To initiate a name change, you must file a petition and pay the filing fee in the county where you reside.

You must visit a Driver Service Center to make changes to your name. You will need your current license and the original or certified document showing the reason for the change; for example: An original or certified marriage certificate, original or certified copy of your divorce decree, or the original court order.

In any Office app, select the File menu and then select Account near the bottom of the menu. Under Product Information, select the Change License button. If there is no Change License button, you may need to Office updates. If necessary, sign in using the account that has the license you want to switch to.

Individuals over 18 years of age can apply for a legal name change in Tennessee by filing a petition with their county's Chancery Court. Petitioners must have resided in the state for at least six months before they are eligible to file a name change petition.

Change your name on your driver's license or state ID. You will have to surrender your current driver's license with your old name, and pay a fee of between $8 and $16 for a duplicate showing your new name.

Based on the regulations in article 1875 of the Civil Code, it is permissible to change the signature as long as the person who made it acknowledges the truth. Even if the signature has been changed, all previous documents using the old signature are still considered valid.
