In normal view, they appear as dashed horizontal and vertical lines; in page layout view, they appear as empty spaces between the pages. You can adjust where automatic page breaks occur and add your own page breaks manually. You can also remove manual page breaks, but you cannot remove automatic page breaks.

Show section breaks Go to Home > Show/Hide . The section breaks that you've added will start and end with something similar to this:

If you select to view the non-printing characters in a document after you set page breaks in Word, you will see that a manual page break is identifiable by the words ?Page Break? in the center of a dashed line within the document. You can easily delete these breaks just as you would any other character.

Go to Layout > Breaks > Page. Click or tap in the document where you want a page break. Go to Insert > Page Break.
