This item is hazardous and should not be put in your rubbish bin. However, most aerosols can be stored for a long time, so there's no need to throw away a half empty can. However, if you do need to dispose of it, you can take it to your nearest community recycling centre and ask a member of staff where to put it.

Any package containing soap (dishwasher detergent, shampoo, laundry detergent, hand soap, etc.) should not be rinsed. In fact, some plastic recyclers rely on residual soap to clean the plastics during reprocessing. After all, it is important to reduce, reuse, and recycle!

Please empty and rinse food containers before tossing them in your Blue Bin. When you don't, the residue from items like jars and take-out containers gets soaked up by paper and can ruin large batches of otherwise good recyclables.

Recyclables don't have to be dishwasher clean. Empty them out, give it a quick rinse, shake off the water and voila! You are good to go! Use a spoon, spatula or paper towel to scrape food waste into your compost bucket or trash.

Recycling that is placed in black bags or bags that are not clear will be considered garbage. Extra cardboard should be cut into small pieces, flattened and bundled with string or twine. Ensure pieces can fit back into the recycling bin. If you frequently have excess recycling, please upsize your Recycling Bin.

Place this item in your Blue Box. Have your Blue Box to the curb by 7am on your collection day. Please ensure all cans are completely empty before recycling.

Paper shopping bags are fine to use as receptacles. Q: If my corrugated cardboard has packing tape on it, can I still recycle it? A: Please remove all loose packing tape but you need not remove all the tape from boxes before recycling.

There is no curbside collection for this item. It is a household hazardous waste. Please drop it off at the Household Hazardous Waste Depot, or a Special Waste Drop-off Day.

For any food storage containers you are recycling, ensure the food has been emptied and removed in full. If possible, rinse it out like you would a glass jar before depositing it in your blue bin. Food or drink materials of any kind can contaminate an entire load of recycling.

A: It is not required that you remove labels, tape, and plastic packing list pouches, although if it's easy to pull some of it off, go ahead and do so. Please break down all boxes before placing them in your recycling cart.
