Page breaks have their uses, but they won't allow you to change section formatting part way through the document. To show any section (or page) breaks in your document, go to the Paragraph group on the Home ribbon and click on the Show/Hide ¶ function.

Page breaks are used to end a page without filling it with text. To make sure the title page of your thesis/dissertation is separate from the signature page, for example, insert a page break after the graduation date on the title page.

View page breaks On the status bar, click the Page Break Preview button. Or, click the View tab, then click the Page Break Preview button.

When you've added section breaks in your document, the easiest way to see where they begin and end is to first display all formatting marks. Go to Home > Show all nonprinting characters.

On the View tab, in the Workbook Views group, click Page Break Preview. on the status bar. On the Page Layout tab, in the Page Setup group, click Breaks. Click Reset All Page Breaks.

Select Home > Show/Hide . This will display non-printing characters?paragraph markers, section breaks, page breaks, etc. ?that you may want to see while you're working on your document. Double-click the page break so that it's selected, and then press Delete.

Display or hide page breaks in Normal view , and then click Excel Options. In the Advanced category, under Display options for this worksheet, select or clear the Show page breaks check box to turn page breaks on or off in Normal view.

To view manual page breaks, paragraph marks and other non-printing characters in Microsoft Word: Click the Home tab in the Ribbon. Click Show/Hide ¶ in the Paragraph group Paragraph marks, tabs, spacing and manual page breaks will display but will not print.

Show section breaks Go to Home > Show/Hide . The section breaks that you've added will start and end with something similar to this:
