To correct a chart, look up the number of the chart in the index at the front of the NTM, by the chart number there will be a list of all the corrections that relate to that chart. Each correction is given a number to identify it. You then need to look up the correction to discover the details.

Chart Correction On ECDIS: Charts on ECDIS need to be updated and corrected on a regular basis. Unlike paper charts where the procedure involves manual insertion of the corrections, correction to ENCs are made automatically. ECDIS allows updating the existing charts and installing new charts too.

Take out tracing of correction or position from weekly NTM /Annual summary of NTM, one by one from bottom, update chart, write correction number in bottom left corner and in chart correction book. Do up to last correction and write on the back of chart ?Corrected up to NTM (No of NTM) / (year)?.

On the front (top left-hand corner) of the paper one, you will find the notice numbers which are contained within that edition. Find the correct edition then search by notice number for the correction. The notice will then give you the co-ordinates and correction that you need to apply.

Whenever a new chart or new edition is published, Weekly Notices to Mariner carry a notification of the same.On receiving a chart or a notification through weekly notices to mariners which replaces a previous chart , insert in the chart correction log 'replaced by' or 'cancelled by' against the mentioned chart.

Issued on a weekly basis by the Admiralty, these notices contain corrections to charts and various other publications such as Admiralty sailing directions and Admiralty list of lights and radio signals. They also include temporary and preliminary notices to correct charts.

All the charts and publications are to be corrected on weekly basis following instructions provided in weekly notices to mariners and the correction numbers to be entered in the same index mentioned above against chart numbers respectively, so that it can be used as a quick reference to check status of corrections for
