Add text to an AutoShape On the Drawing Tools tab, in the Insert Shapes group, click Edit Text. Type the text that you want. To change the text formatting, select the text, click the Home tab, and then change the font, size, color, or any other attribute that you want to change.

To create a diagram or flowchart, you can add and combine different shapes. Click the slide where you want to add the diagram or flowchart. Add any combination of these shapes: To add a shape, click Shape. and choose a shape or arrow. To add connecting lines or arrows, click Line. and choose a line or arrow.

You may find that you need text outside of the shapes in your flowchart. To add text, go to Insert > Text Box. Click and drag the cursor where you wish to place the text box. Type the text inside the box.

While you can't add text to the shape, you can place it near the shape. Just add a text box, place it close to the shape, and then type your text in the text box.

Add text to a drawing page Select Insert > Text Box. Select either Draw Horizontal Text Box or Vertical Text Box. Select the place on the drawing page where you want to add the text. Type in the text.

Adding symbols via Shapes in Word From the Insert tab within the Ribbon, select a flowchart shape from the dropdown gallery. You can then click and drag it to the size you want on the page to place it. Continue to add shapes and lines to complete your flowchart.
