Create Required Field Resolution For Free

Resolution is a system Field and it's always mandatory. You cannot make it optional from Configuration scheme. You need to remove it from create/edit screen and try creating a task. Try removing it and create a new task.

Select the transition to the "Closed" status. Under Options, click on Validators. Click the Add validator button. Select the Field Required Validator option.

Resolution Field Resolution is a special field in JIRA. It has an initial value of 'Unresolved', which means the field is NULL in the database. It is ALWAYS required when it appears on the screen. ONLY display it on the screen during a transition to the status where you want it set.

There are 3 ways to make custom fields required.... Click on gear icon then Setup > Object Manager. Choose the object > Page Layouts. Select the page layout that you use on the object. Click on the wrench icon beside the custom field that you will make required. Select the Required checkbox. Click on Ok, then click on Save.

Resolution Locate your Workflow: > Issues > Workflows. Click Edit under Actions for your workflow. Select your "Done" transition, and Click POST Functions. Click 'Add POST Function > Select 'Update Issue Field' Select Resolution for Issue Field and the appropriate Field Value.

Add the Update issue field post function. Choose the Resolution field and set it to None. Publish the workflow. Go to 2699 > Issues > Workflow Schemes, and scroll down to the workflow scheme associated to the type of the issue for which you wish to fix the resolution.
