Settlements are one of the newest features in the Fallout series, being introduced in Fallout 4. Players are able to create their own settlements around Boston, as well as being able to take over a few major cities in the game.

Food and water is distributed by provisioners. However if your settlements are raider outposts instead then they automatically share everything with no need for provisioners. Physical items do not transfer through supplie lines, if you want to collect caps from your shops, you must go to that settlements workshop.

To connect your settlements in "Fallout 4," you'll have to create what are called "supply lines."
