Construct 2 has been officially retired. Now you should upgrade to Construct 3.

Construct 2 can be downloaded and installed to any computer for free, including site-wide at non-commercial institutions like schools. Without a license, it runs as the Free Edition.

Although it's no longer supported, I think Construct 2 is still okay. It has strengths and weaknesses, just like any other engine, and it particularly excels at prototypes, game jam games, and small arcadey things.

Construct 2 sales were retired in 2020 and it has not been available since then.
