Choose a break type. ?To start on a new page, click Page break. To start a new section on the same page, click Section break (continuous).

In its most basic form, when you compile a Scrivener project, you export it in a form so it can be used outside of Scrivener, but compiling is much more than exporting. (And in Scrivener, export has a different meaning: you export a file or files from the Binder, or you export comments and annotations, etc.)

Sections are your main topics, while pages may go into more detail on those topics. Think of your module like a binder. Sections are the tabs, while pages are the pieces of paper behind the tabs with all the information on them.

The document is now divided into two sections.

It is important to understand the difference between a page break and a section break. A page break simply pushes any information after that page break onto the next page; a section break essentially splits your document into different parts to allow you to apply complex formatting to your document.

Add a section break Select where you want a new section to begin. Go to Layout > Breaks. Choose the type of section break you want: Next Page Section break starts the new section on the following page. Continuous Section break starts the new section on the same page.

The different kinds of section breaks include next page, continuous, even page, and odd page breaks. To learn more about the different kinds of page and section breaks, see their separate headings below, where they are covered in greater detail.

Section breaks enable you to split a document into several sections, enabling you to apply different formatting and layouts to each section. For instance, having two sections in a document enables one section to have portrait orientation and the other to have landscape orientation.

To view manual page breaks, paragraph marks and other non-printing characters in Microsoft Word: Click the Home tab in the Ribbon. Click Show/Hide ¶ in the Paragraph group Paragraph marks, tabs, spacing and manual page breaks will display but will not print.

If this feature is not enabled, you may not be able to move any page breaks. To verify that drag-and-drop is enabled, do the following:Click the worksheet that you want to modify. On the View tab, in the Workbook Views group, click Page Break Preview.To move a page break, drag the page break to a new location.
