Combine Footnote Form For Free

The first way of doing a repeated reference is when the footnotes are next to each other. For this, you use ibid (a Latin word, meaning 'in the same place'). You should never capitalize or italicize ibid. In the example below, I have referenced a book by Raz in footnote 28.

Lastly, you can merge two documents to form one big file and then harmonize the footnote numbers. To combine the two documents, follow the steps: Insert -> Objects -> text from file. If we have more than two documents to merge, we can repeat the steps. The merged documents will have the same format.

To cite multiple sources of the same kind in the same footnote, put the sources in chronological order with the oldest first, separating them with a semi-colon. For example: Broder v Saillard (1876) 2 Ch D 692 (Ch); Pemberton v Bright 1960 1 All ER 792 (CA).

Click inside any footnote in the document. Click the Home tab. From the Select dropdown in the Editing group, choose Select All Text With Similar Formatting (No Data), as shown in Figure D. Press F9 and then click Yes (once for each footnote, which is a bit tedious).

If there is more than one sentence in a single paragraph that requires a footnote you may consolidate these by putting multiple sources in a single note and the end of the paragraph. If you choose to do this, you MUST arrange the sources in the footnote to correspond to the appropriate sentences in your text.

And there is no out of the box feature available in Word to let us merge multiple footnotes, you may need to manually create a new footnote and insert it to your document.
